Arthur

I wrote this piece as a grade eleven composition project, I just found it on one of my old disks, so I figured I'd share it.

There are four different versions, showing the steps I took to write the song, the last being the finished piece.

These are all in MIDI format, so you will need something to play MIDI files (windows media player should work fine).

The reason this song is called "Arthur" is because the melody is loosely based on my name, similar to how Bach wrote a tune based on his name (although H is Bb in German, I had to make a bigger stretch.) Basically I assumed you could consider A = one of {A, H, O, V}; B = one of {B, I, P, W}; C = one of {C, J, Q, X}... etc. (while still allowing octaves). Click here for a picture that might do a better job of explaining this.

Yeah, it's confusing, if you're not the music type, it doesn't matter, the song spells my name (sort-of).

For those who are interested, you can download the sheet music here. (Note: you will need a PDF viewer such as Foxit Reader to view the music.)
